privacy policy
last updated 18 August 2026. wobble keeps data collection to the minimum needed to run the app and your plan.
1. who we are
Wobble is the legal name of the business trading as Wobble, a sole trader established in Ireland. Wobble ("Wobble", "we", "us") is the seller of the Wobble app and the data controller for personal data processed through it. Contact us at team.wobble@outlook.ie.
2. what we collect
- Account data (only if you create an account), username, email where given, plan status, family/child readers you set up, and class membership if a school connects you. Used to sign you in and run your plan.
- Reading settings, font size, tint, line spacing, voice choice and similar preferences, stored in your browser's local storage on your device.
- Books and reading history, scanned pages, generated narration and progress, stored so you can pick up where you left off across devices when signed in.
- Recognised text (transient), the text Wobble extracts from a page, sent to our AI to be split into character voices and read aloud, then discarded.
- Payment and subscription data, when you buy Plus or Family, our reseller Paddle collects and processes your payment details (card or wallet details, billing name, address, country and tax identifiers). We never see or store full card details. We receive from Paddle a subscription record: order and subscription IDs, plan, price, currency, status, renewal date and the billing email, so we can give you the right access.
- Support messages, anything you email us or send through the contact form.
- Anonymous technical data, browser type, viewport size, IP address in server logs and anonymised error logs, used to fix bugs and prevent abuse.
3. what we don't collect
- No card numbers or full payment credentials, those go straight to Paddle.
- No camera frames or photos beyond the pages you choose to save; raw camera video never leaves your device.
- No microphone audio, no location data.
- No advertising identifiers, there are no ads in Wobble.
- No analytics that identify or follow you across other sites.
4. why we process it, and our legal bases
- Providing the service and your plan (account, books, narration, subscription access), performance of a contract.
- Payments, invoicing and tax compliance, performance of a contract and legal obligation.
- Security, fraud and abuse prevention, and bug fixing, legitimate interests.
- Customer support, performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
- Optional marketing emails, consent, withdrawable at any time.
5. AI processing
Recognised text is sent to Google's Gemini model via our server to split it into narrator and character voices and to generate narration audio. We do not allow this text to be used to train third-party models. Text is not retained by the model provider after the response is returned.
6. children
Wobble is designed to be safe for under-13 users with adult supervision. Child readers on a Family plan are set up by a parent or carer. We don't profile children, don't show ads, and don't share children's data with third parties beyond the processors described here.
7. who we share data with
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record and online reseller. Paddle handles the sale, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, invoicing and refunds, and is an independent controller of the payment data it collects. See Paddle's privacy notice.
- AI provider, Google Gemini, to process recognised text into character voices and audio.
- Hosting and database providers, to serve the app and store your account, books and history; they process server logs (IP address, request path) for the standard period needed to mitigate abuse.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities, where required by law.
- We never sell your data and never share it for advertising.
8. international transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK/EEA (for example in the United States). Where that happens we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses with appropriate safeguards.
9. how long we keep it
Account, book and subscription records: while your account is active, and up to 30 days after you ask us to delete it (longer only where tax or accounting law requires, typically 6 years for transaction records held by Paddle and us). Reading settings: on your device until you clear them. Recognised text: not retained. Server access logs: 30 days. Anything else is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.
10. your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email team.wobble@outlook.ie and we'll respond within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority (in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission; in the UK, the ICO).
11. security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures: encryption in transit, access controls, row-level database security, and private storage with short-lived signed links for audio. No system is perfect, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum.
12. cookies
We use only essential cookies and local storage, to keep you signed in and remember your reading settings. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings; doing so signs you out and resets your preferences. Paddle may set cookies necessary to complete checkout.
13. changes
If we materially change this policy we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and email account holders where the change is significant.
